The National Aquarium of New Zealand attracts over 100,000 vistors each year. It is home to a wide range of animals large and small from many countries and continents, including New Zealand native wildlife - the Kiwi and Tuatara.
The Aquarium offers a wide range of activities and experiences for the general visitor including diving displays, keeper talks and feeding of the animals. A range of close encounter experiences are available from swimming with the sharks to holding and feeding the Little Penguins. The Aquarium provides a strong education offering with three experienced teachers to run a variety of LEOTC approved programmes. Functions from special birthdays to corporate events are regularly hosted and catered for at the aquarium. On-site is a cafe and gift shop to complete the visitor experience.
The Aquarium is a qualmarked visitor activity and holds a Enviro Silver rating. Conservation and sustainability are core to the Aquarium's existence.
